Holidays in the South are such a busy season. Southern Living test kitchen pro Ivy Odom shows us a few tricks to save time by making her Christmas dishes ahead of the rush.
Ivy lets us in on her family’s secret lasagna recipe—a Christmas Eve tradition in her family. But her family puts a spin on the dish and it’s all in the cheese. Store the lasagna in the freezer until it’s time to cook.
Cheese straws make the best hostess gifts. Bake them ahead of time and stow them away in the freezer. Package them for a quick and simple hostess gift. Quintessentially southern and so easy to whip up.
Chocolate cookies made with oats? They’re delicious and Santa-approved! Be sure to cream the sugar with softened butter or else you’ll miss an important step. Also, mix semi-sweet and bittersweet chocolate chips for the perfect chocolate chip cookie.
Get to cooking and start saving time for the holidays!
